What is New Jersey Neurosurgical Society?

As a statewide professional nonprofit organization, the New Jersey Neurosurgical Society is the champion and ally for all physician and scientists practicing in New Jersey who want to make a difference in providing quality health care .

Welcome to your newly revised website! The new New Jersey Neurosurgical Society website is a fully functional, user-friendly interactive site that promises to keep you informed and aware of all matters affecting the practice of neurosurgery in New Jersey.

You will be able to read about our advocacy program, understand the issues and search the NJNS bill file to understand what is on the minds of our legislature and regulatory agencies that directly affect how you practice neurosurgery in New Jersey. In addition, when we need you to take action you will be notified so that you can effectively communicate our position to legislators; or to comment on an important proposed regulation.

Advocacy continues to be our most valuable service to you. We continue to be vigilant on issues that may affect you. The NJNS presence in Trenton continues to be recognized at a high level. Prior to the pandemic, NJNS was invited by the Senate to testify on the status of the out of network law. Unfortunately, by the time the committee hearing was scheduled the pandemic set-in and the state was in lock down and the hearing was cancelled.During the course of this year we continued to work with our specialty provider colleagues as members of the Access to Care Coalition, in which we were co-founders eight years ago. Recently, we were able to move truth in advertising legislation that provides patient clarity in search of providers, as well as a telemedicine bill that insures reimbursement rates equal to in-office visits.

We are currently working on legislation that would update network adequacy requirements to include neurosurgery, as well as monitor all legislative and regulatory activity.

As you well know, to do all these good things requires funding. In 2020, due to the pandemic and disruptions in all our respective practices we decided to discount membership fees to one half. Recognizing that many practices are still reeling from the massive financial impact Covid-19 has wrought, we are continuing this discount through 2021. Please submit $1250 per neurosurgeon in your group to help cover society activities throughout the coming year. We are hopeful we can get together in 2021 but acknowledge the safety of New Jersey’s neurosurgeons is our utmost concern. Please visit our new Membership page to secure your 2021 membership.

The Society is here for you so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to the launching of our exciting new website in the coming weeks.

Stay safe!
